Metabolic disorders in dogs occur when there is a lack or excess of various nutrients, macro- and microelements, vitamins, or when the dog has any endocrine diseases, as well as if there is a lack of physical exercises. Obesity – is an excessive amount of fat under the skin and in various internal organs. This disease occurs if the animal is being fed by fat products, sweets and candies, cookies and other food from a man's table. The lack of long walks and a proper amount of physical exercises also promotes the obesity. This disease can also lower the sexual and thyroid gland function.
The obese dog becomes rounder, lazier and less active. Sometimes you can notice folds of fat on the back. The dog may have its pulse increased, during some minor exercises. Often there may be indigestion, constipation, or even eczema can occur on the skin.
If your pet is obese, you should visit a clinic. If the doctor has not found any abnormalities in the thyroid gland or in other internal organs, you can safely put your pet on a diet. You should feed your pet really often, but with small portions. Limit fats and carbohydrates. Do not give anything from your table. If you feed your dog with natural products, add some raw meat, boiled vegetables, and soups to its ration. It is also recommended to increase the duration of your walks and add some more physical exercises.
